Long travel enduro Claymore goes mullet

The 2024 Edition of the Deviate Claymore, continues with its award winning design and is now available as a mullet. This full-suspension enduro mountain bike (MTB) frame features a full-carbon make-up, designed to work with a 29" wheel on the front and a 27.5" wheel on the rear with 165mm of travel. The frame is optimised for freeride enduro fun where it offers an unrivalled balance of high-speed control and excellent pedalling efficiency for all-day riding comfort thanks to our meticulously tested high-pivot suspension design.

The frame is compatible with both 180mm and 170mm long travel forks for the front travel and 165mm of travel for the rear wheel.

Why a rear triangle, not a link?

We have designed our bikes with future upgrades in mind. Existing customers can go from a 29er to a mullet with a simple rear triangle switch whilst maintaining geometry and suspension kinematics.

We’ve found a balanced geometry for our bikes and keeping this consistent was fundamental to our approach. A link design puts the rear wheel in a different portion of the wheel path - therefore outside of the bounds of the optimal anti-squat - whilst a rear triangle switch allows us to keep the consistency whilst providing the added playfulness and manoeuvrability for those inside lines.

FAQs

Q:  Does it require a different chain length?
A:  No. You can retain the chains you are currently using for your 29er

    Q: Does it affect geometry?
A:  No. The reason for a rear triangle versus a link approach was to retain the geometry of the 29er. We have developed the bikes with very specific geometry in mind and spent a lot of time testing to reach that geometry sweet spot. Therefore, when designing the mullet option, it was vital that this was retained which required a rear triangle versus a link approach

Q:  What is the chainstay length?
      A:  435mm

        Q. What are the advantages of a mullet setup?
A:  It is not about advantage or disadvantages but more about how you enjoy riding. For some, mullet setups feel more playful and lively especially around corners and off jumps. They can also provide more clearance which can be particularly beneficial for maneuverability on inside lines

          Q. Are there specific types of riding that benefit from a mullet setup?
          A. Great for freeride, bikepark and jibs

            Q. Are there any specific tyre size recommendations?
            A. 27.5 x 2.4 is the go to for a mullet and we’d highly recommend that for both the Claymore and Highlander II

              Q. Is it UDH compatible?
Yes - both the Highlander II & Claymore mullet rear triangles are also UDH compatible
