Deviate Kurgan Factory Full Build 2026

Overview

Our first ever eMTB. Full-power. Big Travel. Built for riders who don’t hold back. Born from six years of development, countless prototypes, and relentless refinement, the Kurgan is the ultimate expression of what we think an eMTB should be - engineered for big terrain, brutal descents, and all-day epics. No compromises. No shortcuts. Just everything we’ve learned, poured into the eMTB we always wanted.

At its core, the Kurgan takes the DNA of the Claymore and instils it into a duel link suspension design. We didn’t want to compromise suspension performance. Delivering 165mm of rear travel paired with a 180mm fork, It’s a bike that stays planted, poised, and confident - no matter how steep, fast, or technical the trail gets. Geometry is enduro-focused and is complemented by a mixed-wheel setup (29” front/ 27.5” rear). The power comes from the Bosch Performance Line CX motor - lightweight, reliable, and effective - delivering 100Nm of torque through a responsive, quiet system. The 800Wh battery (with an optional 250Wh range extender) gives you the legs for the longest days, paired with the Kiox 400C display, it helps keep everything in check without distractions.

Designed with real riders in mind, the Kurgan features a reach-adjust headset, fully sealed bearings, external grease ports, and an easy access battery system. This, along with space for a water bottle and a range extender, makes even the longest all-day epics seem possible with straightforward maintenance that won’t get in the way of your next ride. No gimmicks. No fluff. Just a bike that performs as good as it looks on paper.

This is the Kurgan.

Tech

Suspension Without Compromise
The Kurgan’s virtual high-pivot suspension delivers a rearward axle path through it's 165mm of travel, reducing pedal kickback and maintaining speed through rough terrain. A progressive leverage curve gives supple small-bump sensitivity early in the stroke, strong mid-stroke support for cornering and pumping, and predictable end-stroke control to prevent harsh bottom-outs. Balanced anti-squat ensures efficient pedalling traction, while tuned anti-rise keeps the bike composed under hard braking - maintaining geometry and traction when it matters most.

Power That Lasts
At its heart, the Kurgan runs the Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit, delivering 100Nm of torque through a responsive, whisper-quiet system. The easily removable 800Wh battery, paired with an optional 250Wh range extender, keeps you rolling for all-day adventures. The Kiox 400C display provides essential ride data without distraction, so you can stay focused on the trail ahead.

Designed for Real Riders
From the reach-adjust headset to fully sealed Enduro Max bearings and external grease ports, the Kurgan is made for performance and easy maintenance. The mixed-wheel setup (29" front / 27.5" rear) balances rollover speed with agile handling, while integrated frame protection and UK mud clearance keep things running smoothly in the roughest conditions. With space for a full-size water bottle and the range extender, every detail has been considered for riders who don’t hold back.

Geometry

Suspension Data

The leverage ratio is the ratio between the distance the rear wheel moves vs. the distance the shock moves as the suspension cycles.

The Kurgan has a higher starting rate to help with beginning to mid stroke suppleness. The mid stroke is progressive, providing strong support for better cornering and pumping to ensure a lively poppy feel. The end stroke remains progressive and predictable to prevent suspension spiking and prevent harsh bottom outs.

Axle path is the line the rear axle takes as the suspension moves, measured relative to the main frame.

The Kurgan’s axle path to is entirely rearward for all 165mm of travel. At 30% sag, the rear wheel moves 15mm rearward relative to the bb. It moves rearward a total of 29mm and moves rearward most during the first half of the travel to reduce feedback to the rider and help to maintain speed over small-medium sized bumps.

Anti-squat is the suspension’s mechanical resistance to compression due to pedalling forces from the rider.

The Kurgan’s anti squat is around 127% at sag (36x50t) to ensure great support and traction when pedalling.

Anti-rise is how much the bike resists the rear-end rise that occurs when we pull the brakes.

The Kurgan’s anti-rise % is balanced with high in the beginning stroke to allow some squat when braking. This helps the bike maintain its geometry, providing a consistent rider position and resulting in plenty of pressure through the tyre to maintain traction when braking hard. Anti- rise then falls off deeper in the travel to allow more suspension movement when taking bigger hits under braking.

Let the Kurgan run on more open, rocky terrain, and it comes alive. The suspension shines on really chunky rocks… at high speeds it's stable and surefooted, with loads of grip and composure.

Even on the sketchiest of steep, janky, loose, rooty, utterly brilliant tracks I rode on-sight. All good. No heart-in-mouth panics. No brown trousers. Just joy and adrenaline.

Stable and composed on steep, gnarly tracks… an effective and accomplished winch.

Why High-Pivot?

The Deviate high pivot point suspension systems provide a smoother, more confidence-inspiring ride by minimising pedal kickback and maintaining momentum over rough terrain. The rearward axle path effectively absorbs square-edge impacts, preserving speed and control, while geometry conservation under braking ensures stability and keeps the rider in the ideal position for tackling challenging obstacles.
